Expect Murkoff at Festival

Bestselling author Heidi Murkoff, who co-wrote the widely acclaimed “What to Expect. . .” series, will be featured at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Murkoff’s will be one of 25 solo events at the festival on the UCLA campus this weekend.

Murkoff got the idea for “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” during her first pregnancy when, she says, she couldn’t find a book that would answer her questions or address her worries. She teamed up with her mother, medical writer Arlene Eisenberg, and sister, Sandee E. Hathaway, to write what has become America’s pregnancy bible.

In a recent USA Today survey, 93% of the pregnant and nursing women polled reported having read “What to Expect” while pregnant.

The team’s “What to Expect” series now includes “What to Expect the First Year” and “What to Expect the Toddler Years.” More than 17 million copies of the books are in print.

A limited number of tickets for events will be available at the festival on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets for Saturday’s events can be picked up only on Saturday; tickets for Sunday’s events can be picked up only on Sunday.
