Northridge Candidates Reduced to a Final Five

Five finalists have been selected for the position of athletic director at Cal State Northridge.

They are Robert D. Arias, Myles P. Corrigan, Richard M. Dull, William E. Lide and Brian F. Quinn.

Each candidate will spend a day on campus between April 27 and May 7, interviewing with administrators, coaches and student-athletes. Each will participate in an on-campus forum and field questions from the campus community. A decision is expected to be reached by the end of May.

A seven-member search committee was formed to find a permanent replacement for Paul Bubb, who resigned last November. Sam Jankovich, a former athletic director at University of Miami, was hired as interim athletic director last December.

Quinn has been executive director of athletic development and promotion at Loyola Marymount since June.

Lide has served as athletic director at North Carolina Central since 1995 and has held similar posts at Salisbury State in Maryland and West Chester University in Pennsylvania.

Corrigan has been assistant athletic director at Washington since 1994 and was an assistant football coach for the Huskies from 1987-93. He served stints as head football coach at Westminster and San Bernardino high schools.

Dull has been athletic director at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa., since May and held positions as athletic director at University of Nebraska at Kearney and University of Maryland.

Arias has been president of One to One/Los Angeles Communities in Schools and was director of athletic development at Loyola Marymount from 1985-86. Arias is past president of Los Angeles Metropolitan Communities in Schools and was executive director for the Cities in Schools Southwest Regional office in Los Angeles.

Open forums will take place in a conference room at the athletic department.
