Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach officials are teaming up to light a fund-raising fire under the Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley this month for the Burn the Mortgage campaign. The campaign is to raise funds to pay off a nearly $400,000 debt owed on one of their Huntington Beach buildings. “There’s really no border when kids are the issue,” Fountain Valley Mayor John Collins said.

Collins, Huntington Beach City Councilman Dave Garofalo and former Fountain Valley Mayor George Scott will mail letters this month asking local organizations and corporations to buy bricks to support the cause. They cost $50 for individuals and $200 for clubs, organizations and businesses. The bricks will be engraved and placed in the walkway of the Fountain Valley facility.
