A former aquatics program employee who taught three generations of swimmers was recognized by Mayor Tim Keenan at a recent City Council meeting for his 35 years of service to the city. Roy Brown, a Tustin-area resident who had worked for the Cypress Recreation and Park District’s Aquatics Program, started the first city-operated Learn to Swim program in 1965. The now-retired Brown, who was a teacher and swimming coach in the Anaheim Unified High School District, also developed an Aquatics Instruction Guide that was adopted by the American Red Cross.
