Fire Chief William Simpkins will bid farewell to the community tonight at a party in his honor. Simpkins retired Aug. 6 after more than 30 years of firefighting. He spent the last 10 years as fire chief in Brea. He is moving to Palm Springs. The new Fire Department head, Alfred Nero, who is the fire chief in the Northern California city of Richmond, will start Aug. 23.
