Lancaster in a Romp, 10-4

Peanut Williams had four hits, including two two-run home runs Tuesday night for Lancaster in a 10-4 victory over Lake Elsinore in front of 2,341 at The Hangar.

Harvey Hargrove hit a three-run double for the JetHawks (21-31) during a seven-run seventh inning.

Brendon Cowsill, from Crescenta Valley High, allowed two runs on two hits in 1 1/3 innings for the Storm (24-28).

Designated hitter Greg Connors hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning and the JetHawks added two runs in the ninth but fell short against Lake Elsinore, 10-7, on Monday night at the Hangar.

Shortstop Jack Wilson (Thousand Oaks High, Oxnard College), who plays at Class A Potomac of the Carolina League, has been selected to play for the Lancaster Stealth of the California Fall League.

Outfielder Harvey Hargrove and pitchers Justin Kaye and Jeff Farnsworth of the JetHawks also have been selected to play with the Stealth.

Sean Douglass (Antelope Valley High), a pitcher for Frederick (Orioles), was assigned to the Lake Elsinore Land Sharks and Eric Cole (Antelope Valley High, Antelope Valley College) will play for the Rancho Cucamonga Surfers.

The league will run from late September through October.

Triple A--Shortstop Steve Sisco (Thousand Oaks) hit a double and drove in three runs for Richmond (Braves) in a 9-7 loss to Norfolk in an International League game. . . . Right-hander Roger Salkeld (Saugus), normally a reliever, worked the first two innings for Calgary (Marlins) against Tacoma, giving up one run and four walks, and striking out two. Tacoma won the seven-inning Pacific Coast League game, 10-3.

Double A--Left-hander Barry Zito (Pierce College), making his debut with double-A Midland (Athletics) of the Texas League, struck out 10 and gave up five hits and three runs in 5 2/3 innings to defeat Wichita, 12-8. . . . Jon Garland (Kennedy High) allowed six hits and two runs and struck out seven over six innings for Birmingham (White Sox) but did not get a decision in 3-2 victory over Carolina in a Southern League game.

Class A--Third baseman Ryan Hankins (Simi Valley) hit two home runs and a single to drive in four runs for Burlington (White Sox) in a 10-3 victory over Peoria in a Midwest League game. Hankins has 15 home runs. . . . Sean Douglass (Antelope Valley) struck out six and yielded seven hits and three runs in 6 2/3 innings for Frederick but did not get a decision in the Keys’ 5-4 victory over Winston-Salem in a Carolina League game.
