Body of Man, 52, Found Near Park

The body of a 52-year-old Santa Paula man was found Tuesday near Mill Park, police said Wednesday.

Jose Trinidad Lopez Manzo, whose family last saw him Sunday, lived in the 1300 block of Orchard Street, Sgt. Carlos Juarez said.

Lopez Manzo died of head injuries, Deputy Coroner James Baroni said.

Officers found the body Tuesday night in a steep, wooded area near the park. Lopez Manzo might have been dead for two or three days, Baroni said.

Police have been told that Lopez Manzo was last seen near Mill Park with another man, Juarez said. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating that man, who has been described as light-skinned, tall and thin with hair that may have been in ponytail.

Visitation for Lopez Manzo will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Garcia Mortuary in Oxnard. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Paula, and Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

Lopez Manzo is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons, a mortuary worker said.
