10 Businesses Cited in Alcohol Sting

Authorities cited 10 Thousand Oaks-area businesses during the weekend for allegedly selling alcoholic beverages to minors.

Several teenagers working with the Sheriff’s Department in Thousand Oaks attempted to buy alcohol from more than 80 businesses Friday and Saturday.

Employees at 10 stores and restaurants were cited and released at the scene on suspicion of selling alcohol to minors.

Designed to deter and educate local businesses, the sting operation was slated to coincide with the end of summer vacation and the start of school, according to police officials.

The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control had notified all licensees in the east county of the decoy program before it began.

Businesses cited included: Sav-on Drugs on Agoura Road in Westlake Village, Rite-Aid drugstore on Reino Road in Newbury Park, D & K Liquor on Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks, Denny’s restaurant on Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks, Dupars restaurant on Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks, Manny’s Taco de Mexico on Reino Road in Newbury Park, IHOP restaurant on Michael Drive in Newbury Park, Chuck E. Cheese’s on Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, Quick Stop Market on Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks, and Alamo restaurant on Borchard Road in Newbury Park.
