Austin Moherman, a redshirt sophomore who has thrown one pass at Ohio State, will start Sunday when the ninth-ranked Buckeyes play No. 12 Miami in the Kickoff Classic at East Rutherford, N.J.

Moherman, from Mission Viejo, had been competing against sophomore Steve Bellisari for the job since the first spring practice. Joe Germaine passed for 3,040 yards and 31 touchdowns in leading Ohio State to an 11-1 record and was a fourth-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams.

Moherman played two seasons at Mission Viejo High for two seasons before transferring to Capistrano Valley, where he passed for 1,928 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior.
