Share

TODAY-WEDNESDAY

AT MILWAUKEE

* Schedule: 5 p.m. today, 11 a.m. Wednesday.

* Television: Fox Sports West 2 today.

* Radio: KXTA (1150) and KWKW (1330), all games.

* Pitching matchups: Mike Judd (1-1, 5.84) vs Scott Karl (8-10, 4.86) tonight, Kevin Brown (14-6, 3.12) vs. Bill Pulsipher (3-4, 5.16) Wednesday.

* Last series: The Dodgers swept a three-game series from the Brewers in April. Raul Mondesi hit a two-run homer for a 3-2 Dodger victory in the first game and Chan Ho Park had a two-run double in the Dodgers’ 3-2 victory in the second game. The third game was a 10-4 runaway.

* About the Brewers: Milwaukee has been struggling. The Brewers lost all three games over the weekend against San Francisco for seven losses in a stretch of eight games. They gave up 22 runs in three games against the Giants. Through Sunday, the Brewers had not homered in 13 games. Catcher David Nilsson left in the second inning of Sunday’s game because of a bruised right hand and is regarded as day-to-day. Third baseman Jeff Cirillo (.313) had only five hits during a span of 26 recent at-bats.

FRIDAY-SUNDAY

VS. CHICAGO

* Schedule: 7 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday, 5 p.m. Sunday.

* Television: KTLA on Friday.

* Radio: KXTA (1150) and KWKW (1330), all three games.

* Last series: The Dodgers won the last series in Dodger Stadium, two games to one. Mondesi delivered a pair of two-run homers to provide the firepower needed for a 4-3 victory in the opener. The Cubs won the second game, 10-5, but the Dodgers scrambled to win the third game, 3-2, with two runs in the ninth. Todd Hundley’s homer tied it, and a wild pitch scored the winning run.

* About the Cubs: Chicago, in last place in the NL Central, can’t seem to get consistent pitching to match its hitting. Steve Trachsel (4-15) leads the major leagues in losses and could be the first pitcher in 20 years to lose 20 games. Sammy Sosa was on a tear last week with seven home runs in seven games. Henry Rodriguez and Mark Grace also have hot bats.
