Symposium to Focus on the Blues

Director, choreographer and performer Debbie Allen will moderate a symposium, “Spirit, Sizzle & Soul--How the Blues Shaped Our Century,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Geffen Playhouse in Westwood, in conjunction with the musical production “It Ain’t Nothin’ but the Blues.”

Panelists will include Kenny Burrell, guitarist and director of UCLA’s jazz studios program; performer Eloise Laws; Beverly J. Robinson, professor of UCLA’s school of theater, film and television; and Ron Tayler and Dan Wheetman, co-authors and performers in “It Ain’t Nothin’ but the Blues.”
