Granada Hills Gets Doubles Triple
All three Granada Hills High doubles teams advanced to the semifinals of the City Section individual tennis tournament with victories Wednesday at the Warner Tennis Club
Jasmin Dao advanced to the semifinals in singles for the Highlanders, who already captured the City Section team title.
Top-seeded Shannon Slotnick and Caryn Linder defeated Anna Baslova and Negine Sohrabi of Sherman Oaks CES, 6-2, 6-1, and sixth-seeded Michal Zeituni and Robin Meselson upset third-seeded Traci Ito and Julie Klein of Venice, 6-3, 6-4.
The two teams from Granada Hills will play each other Friday.
Granada Hills’ Andrea Blieden and Jennifer Steinberg, seeded seventh, overcame a 3-0 deficit in the third set to outlast fourth-seeded Jennifer Bermudez and Kelly Chain of Westchester, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
Blieden and Steinberg will face No. 2-seeded Jennifer Lin and Setarah Safii of Palisades, who defeated Carson’s Maria Domingo and Lynn Zabala, 7-5, 7-5.
Dao defeated April McKinney of Los Angeles CES, 6-1, 6-2, and will play defending champion and top-seeded Jessica Roland of Hollywood.
