At least 40 Leisure World residents stood on the sidewalk on Moulton Parkway on Friday, holding placards with slogans opposing a proposed construction project in the Gate 12 area.

They urged the managing Golden Rain Foundation’s board members to stop the project, which would put office buildings and a tennis court near the Gate 12 area, and let the people decide.

“They should let us vote on this,” resident Stanley Naspaszewski said. “Right now, we have no choice.”

Earlier that morning across the road from this demonstration, 50 people, including Golden Rain board members, gathered in Leisure World’s Clubhouse 2 to demonstrate their support for the project.

“We thought the voices of people who support the project must also be heard,” Leisure World spokesman Greg Smith said.
