- Share via
Tony Bryant
Villa Park, Basketball
Although teammate Matt MacGinnis averaged 19 points in four games to help the Spartans win the Anaheim
Holiday Classic last week at the Anaheim Convention Center, Bryant, the starting point guard, earned tournament MVP honors. Bryant had nine points in a 56-45 victory over San Clemente in the final and had 18 points in a 59-40 victory over Esperanza in the semifinals.
* Steve Henderson
Edison, Basketball
Tournament MVP had 25 points in final to help Edison defeat host Orlando (Fla.) Lake Highland, 57-55.
* Andy Lawrence
University, Basketball
Tournament MVP led Trojans to their first Irvine World News tournament championship.
Brandi Davis
Sonora, Basketball
Sonora had to play the final two games of the Mission Viejo tournament without Mindy Clark, its 6-foot-4 Fresno State-bound center. Since Clark was attending her
brother’s wedding, Davis, a 5-10 junior guard, picked up the slack. She earned MVP honors, scoring 28 points, including three three-pointers, in a 58-46 victory over Estancia in the championship game.
* Monika Jackley
Valencia, Basketball
Jackley scored 47 points in one game and six of her 14 points in overtime of a 59-52 victory over El Dorado.
* Amber Stachowski
Capistrano Valley, Water Polo
Scored two goals, including two in overtime, to help the Cougars defeat Irvine in sudden death, 9-8.
