* Re “Lockyer Had Warned of Toll Pitfalls,” Dec. 17: I can’t think of another article in the last few years that so enraged me. If anyone ever needed proof that we now have a government of the korporations, by the korporations and (especially) for the korporations, this is it.

Riverside County Supervisor John F. Tavaglione asks, “What was going on in the minds of state legislators when they passed this thing?” Methinks it was probably more like, “What was going into their wallets and purses?”

Please do a follow-up article on who received what from whom and when, so that after the revolution we can ax the proper heads.

* I found it very interesting to read about the controversy surrounding the proposed sale of the 91 Express Lanes and the “noncompete clause” with Caltrans that surfaced. Reading about the issue reminded me about the 241 toll road near my own home. When the 241 first opened, it ran from Portola Parkway in Foothill Ranch to Portola Parkway in Irvine. Back then, and still today, the two segments of Portola Parkway remain separated by less than a mile. Why hasn’t this small segment of public roadway been completed? Is it because connecting the two would allow commuters to bypass the 241 toll road? Or is it just a coincidence that Portola Parkway has not been connected and the 241 toll road reaps the rewards? I would like to see an investigation of the 241 similar to the one on the 91 Express Lanes to find out if there is any connection.
