Celebration to Cap Food Share Drive
Food Share of Ventura County will wrap up its holiday food drive today with a 10:30 a.m. celebration at the food bank, hosted by the drive’s chairman, Sheriff Bob Brooks.
Food Share offices are located at 4156 N. Southbank Road in Oxnard.
The event will honor donors and volunteers who helped provide nearly 2,000 turkeys and thousands of pounds of food for the needy during Food Share’s Holiday Challenge drive.
A local grocery store will deliver 3,000 pounds of groceries to top off the event. Fifty families receiving groceries will also attend.
Food from the drive has been distributed to families in crisis, seniors, children, the handicapped and disabled, organizers said.
