* Former Bell-Jeff guard Ruben Douglas has decided to transfer from Arizona to New Mexico.

FOOTBALL

* Four Glendale College players have signed with four-year schools.

Receiver Chad Heydorff and offensive tackle Eddie Martinez signed with California, tight end Brian Gelt signed with San Diego State and center Taylor Ketchum signed with Ohio.

Heydorff led the state with 86 receptions for 1,616 yards and 17 touchdowns.

* Moorpark College safety Jay Kos, a former El Camino Real High standout, signed with San Diego State.

* Steve Nevarez, an All-City Section offensive lineman from San Fernando High, has committed to San Diego State.

CROSS-COUNTRY

* Michelle Burns, a former standout at Buena High, has been hired as the head girls’ coach at her alma mater.

Burns, 30, takes over for Steve Blum, who stepped down after guiding Buena to 14 Channel League titles and two Ventura County championships in 17 seasons.

BASEBALL

* Chaminade High won the prestigious Brea winter tournament on Monday, stamping itself as a team to watch this spring.
