Rob Hodgson broke out of a scoring slump with a career-high 31 points--making all 11 of his shots from the field and each of his three free throws for Rutgers (14-6, 6-4) in an 87-61 victory over West Virginia (9-12, 3-8) at Piscataway, N.J.

Hodgson, who entered the game with a 13.4 average but had scored only 44 points in his last five games, became the first Rutgers player to score 30 points since Steve Worthy had 32 against Massachusetts on March 8, 1992.

Six of Hodgson’s field goals were from behind the three-point arc.
