Lakers, NBA Have Some Selling to Do

Share

Bill Plaschke’s column on Feb. 7 is an example of another sportswriter who knows nothing. Kobe is a ball hog. He has a poor field-goal percentage, never passes to the open man and shoots low-percentage shots most of the time. He should not be a starter until he can remember that there are four other guys on the floor with him who want a ring as badly as he does. Second coming of Jordan? Please, give me a break.

No matter how much time goes by (all summer and half a season), nothing seems to have changed with the so-called best team in the West. Kobe is still wild at times. Eddie still disappears when Utah is on the court. And everyone on the team still enjoys watching Shaq play while standing at the top of the three-point line. Oh yeah, and Del still keeps those arms folded.

Man I loathe this game!

The L.A. Times reporters are not Jerry West and I just wish they would stop speculating about when Kobe should start, where Campbell and Jones will end up, and who should coach the Lakers. The bottom line is that the Lakers didn’t even get past the Jazz, much less Jordan’s Bulls.

My only wish is that the Lakers, The Times, and Jerry West allow this team to reach its potential before destroying what we have.

What gives? The NBA has been on for nearly a week and you haven’t published any unflattering photos of Rick Pitino with his mouth agape.

I noticed that NBA arenas were filled for the most part on opening night, convincing me that these are the most ignorant and abused fans in sports. Their heroes now know that it is accepted behavior to continue to beat women, father illegitimate children in cities they visit, choke coaches, call fans jerks, spit on them, throw them through windows, smoke marijuana, drive recklessly and under the influence because any court case or habit they need money for will be paid for by their fans who applaud and condone their actions by showing up en masse to cheer them on.

Why is Shaquille O’Neal lobbying to bring Dennis Rodman to the Lakers? Shaq wants Rodman to rebound his missed free throws.

Does anyone really care what Nick Van Exel has to say?
