Cal State Fullerton 104, UC Irvine 97--In a game at Irvine that saw 24 three-point baskets and 46 free throw attempts by Cal State Fullerton, the Titans held on for their sixth consecutive victory.
Ike Harmon had a career-high 33 for the Titans, who gave up a school-record 16 three-point baskets while handing the Anteaters 5-17 overall and 1-11 in the Big West, their 11th consecutive loss.
Irvine Coach Pat Douglass was quick to point out that his team scored more points than it had in its last two games combined. But it still wasn’t enough on a night when the Titans (12-10, 6-6) made 38 of their 46 free throws and eight of 11 three-point shots.
Besides Harmon, Mark Murphy and Brandon Campbell had career scoring highs with 21 and 14, respectively.
For Irvine, sophomore forward Ben Jones drilled a career-high seven three-point shots in eight attempts to finish with a team-high 28 points, also a career high. Adam Stetson was four of six on three-pointers and finished with 22 points.
Harmon partially blocked the one three-point shot Jones missed in the game with 11.4 seconds left and the Titans leading, 101-97.
