Charges Filed Against Men in Televised Chase

Charges were filed Tuesday against two Van Nuys men who allegedly robbed a Westlake Village travel agency at gunpoint last week.

Prosecutors filed four counts of robbery and four counts of false imprisonment against Eddie Mendoza, 21, and Douglas Fernando Sosa, 20, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Det. Dina Lincoln.

Bail was raised from $500,000 to $1 million for each man, Lincoln said.

The two men were arrested Thursday after a televised chase on the Ventura Freeway that ended in a Woodland Hills cul-de-sac. Authorities are still seeking a third suspect who jumped from the car during the chase.

The trio allegedly walked into Petro Shore Travel, tied up employees and took jewelry, cash and ticket coupons.

Police are unsure whether the men are responsible for a series of travel agency robberies over the past month, said LAPD Det. Jack Giroud.
