Man Shot Dead at Fullerton Party
One man was killed and two were wounded in a gang-related shooting during an early morning party at a popular Fullerton meeting hall Saturday, police said.
More than 100 people were gathered at Wilshire Court in the 100 block of West Wilshire Avenue when someone pulled out a handgun and started shooting about 12:30 a.m., Fullerton Police Lt. Geoff Spalding said.
“At this point, there is really no motive that we’re aware of,” Spalding said. He said detectives believe the gunman belonged to a local street gang.
David Sanchez, 20, of Fountain Valley was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. Roy Rodriguez, 20, was taken to the UCI Medical Center in Orange with a leg wound and was listed in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said. Jesus Pedera, 18, also wounded in a leg, was treated at a nearby hospital and released.
