‘Disney’ Drama Returns to the Freedom March in Selma

Weekend movies include a “Wonderful World of Disney” drama about the civil rights movement and the network TV premiere of the Oscar-winning “Dead Man Walking.”

Jurnee Smollett and Yolanda King, the daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., star in “Selma, Lord, Selma,” Sunday at 7 p.m. on ABC. The “Wonderful World of Disney” drama chronicles the 1965 freedom march for African American voter rights.

Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn star in the acclaimed 1995 drama “Dead Man Walking,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on CBS. Sarandon plays a nun trying to save the life of a death row inmate.

Jason Brooks stars in the UPN thriller “The Darwin Conspiracy,” tonight at 8.

Jaclyn Smith and Bruce Boxleitner star in the Fox Family Channel thriller “Freefall,” Sunday at 8 p.m.

Timothy Busfield stars in “Time at the Top,” a Showtime family fantasy, Sunday at 8 p.m.

NBC repeats the 1993 blockbuster “The Fugitive,” Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Harrison Ford and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones star.

TNN’s “An Evening With Anne Murray,” tonight at 10, features the popular Canadian singer in a concert filmed at Nova Scotia’s Metro Centre. Celine Dion, Bryan Adams and Jann Arden are the special guests.

The HBO documentary “Diary of a Terrorist: Mikdad,” Friday at 8 p.m., offers an in-depth chronicle on how terrorist acts are carried out.

“Mr. Shimkus Goes to Washington,” Friday at 10 p.m. on KCET-TV, looks at the career and home life of freshman Rep. John M. Shimkus (R-Ill.).

The History Channel’s “On This Day: Gulf War Marathon,” Saturday at 8 p.m., is a four-hour documentary on Operation Desert Storm.

A&E;’s “Unmentionables: A Brief History,” Sunday at 6 and 10 p.m., offers a two-hour peek at the underwear industry.

Nickelodeon’s “Nick News” will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Linda Ellerbee hosts.

“Surviving Ovarian Cancer,” Sunday at 10 p.m. on KCET-TV, documents the strides that have been taken in conquering the disease.

Former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson returns to the ring in a pay-per-view bout with former world heavyweight champion Francois Botha from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Hotel/Casino, Saturday at 6 p.m.

Fox presents the NFC Championship game, Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Following at 1 p.m. on CBS is the AFC Championship. The winners of both games square off in the Super Bowl on Jan. 31.

Roller Derby returns to TV with TNN’s new series “Roller Jam,” Friday at 8 p.m.

“Siskel & Ebert” pick their worst films of 1998, Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on KABC.

“The E! True Hollywood Story,” Sunday at 8 p.m., looks at the life of notorious ice skater Tonya Harding.

WB premieres its new teen ensemble comedy “Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane,” Sunday at 9 p.m. Selma Blair stars in this comedy about four high school friends coming of age in New York.
