More Quakes Rattle Central California Area

A flurry of earthquakes along the San Andreas fault, the strongest magnitudes 4.3 and 3.4, shook an area near Hollister in central California on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

No damage or injuries were reported in the temblors, which were centered 16 miles southeast of Hollister. The 4.3 quake occurred at 12:48 a.m., and the 3.4 at 1:34 p.m, and there were several weaker ones.

A few such moderate quakes have been felt in the vicinity in the last several months.
