Man Killed in Botched Drug Deal, Police Say

A man was shot and killed Thursday night in an apparent drug deal gone awry, police said Friday.

Officers responded to a call around 10 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 10900 block of Bluffside Drive, not far from where a December shootout left an LAPD officer wounded and a suspect dead, said Det. Mike Coffey of the LAPD’s North Hollywood Division.

Police arrived to find Rogers Davis, 31, of Lake View Terrace, with a gunshot wound to the chest, he said.

Davis was taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Several pounds of marijuana were recovered from the apartment, and police are searching for two men who witnesses say fled the scene, Coffey said.
