Kelly Lifts Antelope Valley to First

Le’Tre Kelly scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds, and Antelope Valley College moved into first place in the Foothill Conference Northern Division on Saturday night with a 79-75 men’s basketball victory over College of the Desert at Antelope Valley.

Kelly, a 6-foot-6 center, made eight of 12 shots for Antelope Valley (12-14, 3-0 in conference play).

College of the Desert (17-11, 2-1), made only 56% of its free throws and struggled down the stretch, making nine of 18 free throws in the second half.

Dameion Henry had 18 points and seven assists for the Marauders and Mike Paul added 13 points.

Valley 73, West L.A. 54--Tyree Williams, who had 21 points, scored the Monarchs’ first 11 points in a Western State Conference Southern Division victory at Valley.

Joe Bakhoum had nine points and eight assists for the Monarchs (16-10, 3-1).

WOMEN

Moorpark 68, Hancock 64--Alofa Tuimoloau scored five of her 18 points in overtime for the Raiders in a WSC Northern Division victory at Hancock.

Moorpark (14-11, 2-2) trailed, 64-58, after giving up the first six points in overtime, but Christine Mosesso and Tuimoloau hit consecutive three-pointers to tie the score, and Tuimoloau followed with a two-point basket.

West L.A. 82, Valley 57--The Monarchs committed 25 turnovers and made only 12 of 21 free throws in a WSC Southern Division loss at Valley.

Patricia Nuno scored 14 points for Valley (15-11, 2-3), and Tynisha Howze had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Janice Thomas had 28 points for the Oilers (16-4, 5-0), and Tralyia Dilion scored 21.

Antelope Valley 61, Chaffey 58--Camina Stevenson had 22 points, including six three-point baskets for the Marauders in a Foothill Conference victory at Chaffey.

Stevenson had three steals and three assists for Antelope Valley (16-10, 8-3).

The Panthers (18-10, 8-3) missed three three-point shots in the final 16 seconds.
