Swoopes, Cooper Pace the Comets
Sheryl Swoopes and Cynthia Cooper have always said they enjoy playing the New York Liberty, and they showed why on Saturday.
The Houston guards combined for 32 points to lead the Comets to a 65-50 win over New York in front of 12,003 at Houston.
Vickie Johnson led New York with 20 points and Kym Hampton added 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Comets had runs of 15-0 and 11-1 in the first half, getting 24 of their 34 first-half points from Swoopes, Cooper and Tina Thompson.
Minnesota 56, Phoenix 47--Brandy Reed scored 14 points against her former team as the Lynx ended a three-game home losing streak before 9,560 at Minneapolis.
Charlotte 75, Orlando 58--Vicky Bullett had 24 points and 11 rebounds in the Sting’s victory before 10,005 at Orlando, Fla.
