Teacher Held on Charges of Sex With Teenager
A 26-year-old Los Angeles schoolteacher has been arrested on various charges relating to sex with a 14-year-old girl he met on the Internet, police said Wednesday.
The suspect was identified by the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department as Jeremy West Preall, 26, a resident of Anaheim.
Det. Richard Hahn said Preall and the girl had communicated by computer and agreed to meet later at the girl’s Rancho Cucamonga home. Hahn said Preall was arrested for unlawful intercourse with a minor, oral copulation and lewd acts with a minor.
Hahn would not say how the alleged crime came to the attention of authorities. A search warrant was served on Preall’s home Tuesday, where he was arrested and taken to the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. He was being held Wednesday on $75,000 bail.
Hahn said Preall was a fifth-grade teacher at an unidentified elementary school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. A district spokesman said Wednesday that Preall’s name did not immediately show up on computer employment records.
