From Staff and Wire Reports

Ed Dougherty bogeyed two of the last three holes and shot a three-over-par 75 Saturday but still held a one-stroke lead after three rounds of the U.S. Senior Open in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Dougherty’s 54-hole score of four-under 212 is one stroke better than Bruce Summerhays, defending champion Hale Irwin and Dave Eichelberger.

Summerhays and Irwin built momentum for today’s final round, charging with late birdies to shoot 70. Summerhays birdied No. 17 while Irwin birdied 16 and 17 and barely missed a 12-foot putt for another at 18.
