Gap Inc. said it hired Heidi Kunz, 44, as its chief financial officer to succeed Warren Hashagen, who was recently named senior vice president, finance and strategy, for Gap’s international division. Kunz, CFO at ITT Industries Inc., will join the retailer next month.

Viacom Inc.’s Blockbuster Entertainment video store unit said it is withdrawing from the Japanese market because it is too expensive to expand there. Blockbuster said it sold its 50% stake in its Japanese joint venture to partner Fujita & Co. for undisclosed terms. The move was effective on June 30. Closely held Fujita is a Tokyo trading company established by Den Fujita, president of McDonald’s Corp.’s Japanese unit.
