City staff is encouraging residents to attend a June 8 meeting on next year’s city budget. “It’s part of our ongoing effort to involve the citizens of our small community in their city government,” said Mayor Bob Bell, adding that the budget is expected to be set near last year’s level of $2 million. New items being considered for funding include Cannon Street improvements and new storm drain work along Taft Avenue. Input and discussions from the meeting will help finalize the 1999-2000 budget recommendation, which will be presented to the City Council on June 22. The budget study session begins at 7:30 p.m. in council chambers, 17855 Santiago Blvd.
