* Re “Religion and Violence,” Ventura County letters, June 2.

Bruce Roland makes some very good points in response to my article, “When Feeling Good Comes at the Expense of Doing Good” (Ventura County Perspective, May 30). I agree entirely with his reading of the Constitution.

Here is my challenge to everyone: Let’s put back the same God that was mentioned in our schools for nearly 200 years and see if youth begin to treat each other better. No laws need to be passed. The U.S. Supreme Court finally has five justices who are willing to interpret the original intent of the Constitution.

How do we make our schools safer without losing more precious freedom?

John Adams summed it up best: “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
