School district trustees reviewed a proposed $34-million 1999-2000 budget at their recent meeting.
State funding for education will increase $1.2 billion statewide, but the district will receive less than it has in the past because much of the funding is earmarked for programs that don’t apply to the district.
Trustee Julie Hoxsie asked district staff to send a letter to the state to urge legislation freeing more money for the district to use at its discretion. The budget will be considered for adoption at a June 24 hearing.
