Jagoda, Bird Spur Crespi Attack During Sweep of Campbell Hall

Marcin Jagoda had nine kills and Jon Bird contributed seven kills and four blocks to help Crespi High defeat Campbell Hall, 15-11, 17-15, 15-6, in a nonleague boys’ volleyball match Wednesday at Crespi.

Crespi (2-0) trailed in the second game, 14-11, but rallied behind blocks by Bird and Alex Park.

Tanner Ragland had 15 assists for Campbell Hall (0-1).

Viewpoint def. Crossroads, 16-14, 13-15, 15-4, 12-15, 15-3--Derek Bly had 15 kills, 10 assists and five blocks and the Patriots (1-1) won a nonleague match at Viewpoint.

Ken Roy added 12 kills and freshman Andrew Chizever had 23 assists.

La Canada d. Bosco Tech, 15-11, 15-8, 13-15, 15-3--Marc Reynolds had 16 kills and four blocks for La Canada in a nonleague opener at Bosco Tech.

Jason Lee had 14 kills for the Spartans, who made seven passing errors and eight service errors in losing the third game. La Canada made one passing error and one service error in the fourth game.

SOFTBALL

Banning 5, Granada Hills 0--Right-hander Angelina Possi of Banning pitched a no-hitter, walking three and hitting three batters, in a nonconference season opener at Banning.

Cleveland 8, Franklin 4--Angie Veliz had three hits, including a triple, for the Cavaliers in a nonleague victory at Cleveland.

San Fernando 9, Grant 3--Five players each had two hits for San Fernando in a nonconference opener at Grant. Kim Inks and Laura Salerno each had two singles for Grant.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Campbell Hall 11, Burbank 7--Seniors Shaunt Vanerian and Nick Nadjarian swept three sets at No. 1 doubles and the Vikings (3-0) won a nonleague match over 11-time defending Foothill League champion Burbank at Valley College.

Tigran Martirosyan won three sets at No. 1 singles for Burbank (0-1).

Buckley 10, Milken Community 8--Nirav Kamdar and Ophir Tanz lost only one game while sweeping at No. 1 doubles for the Griffins in a nonleague match at Buckley.

Melanie Handel swept at No. 1 singles and Alison Reynolds won two of three sets at No. 3 singles for Milken (0-1).

Nordhoff 13, Carpinteria 5--No. 2 Tyson Swetek and No. 3 Brent Lancaster swept their singles sets and the Rangers (1-1) won a nonleague match at Carpinteria.
