Tempers flared Tuesday morning when King goalie Jamie Storr and winger Donald Audette squared off at the pregame skate at the Great Western Forum.

The match was lit by an Audette shot that Storr judged as too high for practice purposes, and the usual pushes and shoves were used, and a couple of punches were thrown.

Order was quickly restored and the two finished the day as noncombatants, told to rechannel their energy toward playing the Detroit Red Wings.

Glen Murray has had a dose of reality in his comeback after missing 19 games because of a knee injury.

“I thought I was going to come in just like I was playing when I went out,” he said. “I thought I was going to slip back in like it was November. Instead, it’s like training camp, and I’m not helping the team much.”

Murray had no goals and only two assists in the nine games he had played in his return.
