About Louisiana Tech: Leon Barmore is one of the women’s game’s best coaches. If Louisiana Tech wins twice here, it would be his ninth Final Four appearance in 17 seasons. His Lady Techsters made it to the national title game last year, lost to Tennessee, and he says this team is better. “We played six players last year; I’ve got much better depth now,” he said. Louisiana Tech lost at home to Tennessee in January, 92-73, and at Purdue, 71-65. Otherwise, it has won 28 games and not one of those was close. Wilson is the leader, with a 16-point scoring average. Off the bench, guard Christie Sides shoots 47% from beyond the arc.

About Louisiana State: At first glance, you wouldn’t give LSU much of a shot here: up-and-down season, unable to put a lengthy win streak together . . . except for one thing--the Lady Tigers beat Tennessee. It happened in Baton Rouge on Feb. 21, 72-69. LSU closed down the inside on Tennessee, forced the Lady Vols to shoot long and defended them well there too. LSU looked solid Monday in beating eighth-ranked Notre Dame, 74-64, to reach Los Angeles. Coach Sue Gunter is in her 17th season at LSU and is the nation’s fourth-winningest coach in Division I. The top player is Dorsey, who had 24 points and five steals against Notre Dame. Against ranked teams, Dorsey and Hibbert are averaging a combined 30 points.
