Larry Fortensky, a former husband of Elizabeth Taylor, was released from a Mission Viejo hospital to be cared for by his family after he was critically injured in a fall two months ago, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday.

Fortensky, 46, was released Friday from Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center. Further information about his condition was not available, and his destination wasn’t disclosed.

Fortensky suffered serious head injuries when he fell down a flight of stairs in his San Juan Capistrano home during the early-morning hours Jan. 28. A woman who dialed 911 to report the accident said he had been drinking.

Taylor and Fortensky met in 1988 when both were patients at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage. They were married in October 1991 at entertainer Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County. The actress filed for divorce in February 1996, citing irreconcilable differences.
