Three Small Earthquakes Rattle Region Near Mammoth Lakes
Three small earthquakes shook this Eastern Sierra area early Sunday, authorities said.
A magnitude 3.2 temblor occurred at 4:30 a.m. eight miles west-southwest of Mammoth Lakes, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
That was followed by a magnitude 3.0 quake at 5:18 a.m. and a magnitude 3.2 quake at 5:31 a.m. at about the same epicenter, the agency said.
The small quakes follow a magnitude 5.6 shaker Saturday, the largest in the area in nearly three years.
Mammoth Lakes is about 200 miles east of San Francisco and 250 miles north of Los Angeles.
