Share

Orange Coast rallied to win the team title and Saddleback’s Karlie Ward took the individual title at the Orange Empire Conference women’s golf championships Monday on the north course at Los Serranos in Chino Hills.

OCC, which went undefeated during the regular season, trailed Saddleback by two strokes heading into the second and final round.

But every OCC player played better than she did in Wednesday’s first round on the same 5,938-yard, par-74 course.

Fullerton’s Hye Joon Jung (167) was second and Saddleback’s Olivia Slutzky (169) was third.

Robin Shaft had rounds of 87 and 83 for a team-low 170 for Orange Coast. OCC’s Jennifer Tunzi (175) was fifth and teammate Jan Cheng (184) was sixth.

Orange Coast and Saddleback, as well as Long Beach and Mt. San Antonio, advance to the two-day Southern California championship starting Sunday at Menifee Lakes.

The top two teams then advance to the state tournament Nov. 14-15 at Auburn Hills Country Club.
