Harvard-Westlake Wins Mission Title as Kim Shoots 72

Ina Kim shot a one-under-par 72 for Harvard-Westlake High, which won the Mission League girls’ golf tournament championship Tuesday at Knollwood Golf Course in Granada Hills.

The Wolverines, who had a score of 246, finished league play with an 18-0 record.

Chaminade, which had a score of 280, finished second at 12-6.

Notre Dame, which shot 296, finished third at 11-7.

Foothill League Match No. 5--Sara Jones shot 81 and earned league most valuable player honors for Hart (36-0, 25-0) at Elkins Ranch Golf Course in the Foothill League final.

Moah Chang of Burbank, which finished second to Hart in the match, 267-310, and second in the league standings, earned medalist honors at 78.

Marmonte League Match No. 3--Agoura, with a score of 141, took the lead from Thousand Oaks with one round left at Simi Hills Golf Course.

Julie McKenna of Newbury Park won medalist honors with a four-over-par 39.

Agoura has a three-day score of 426, Thousand Oaks has 428 and Newbury Park has 431.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Calabasas 12, Agoura 6--Andrea Leewong and Jacki Yano, playing No. 1 doubles, lost only four games in three sets for the Coyotes (16-3) in a nonleague victory at Agoura.

Brooke Borisoff, playing No. 1 singles, improved to 33-0, dropping one game in three sets for the Chargers (9-9).

Campbell Hall 16, Crossroads 2--Melissa Nguyen won, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, to earn her 118th consecutive league victory, and the Vikings (12-5, 5-3) clinched second in the Delphic League at Crossroads.

Santa Barbara 13, Buena 5--Playing without No. 1 singles player Yas Fisher, who has an elbow injury, the Bulldogs (13-5, 3-4) were swept in singles play during a Channel League match at Buena.

Westlake 13, Simi Valley 5--Lauren Baer and Lindsay Weiss swept at No. 1 doubles and the Warriors (13-4, 11-0) clinched their second consecutive Marmonte League title at Simi Valley.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Westlake def. Simi Valley, 15-13, 15-5, 12-15, 15-1--The Warriors clinched a fourth Marmonte League title in five years at Simi Valley.

Tawny Thorp had 20 kills and Lauren Mills added 19 for Westlake (16-6, 11-0), ranked No. 3 in the region by The Times.

Royal def. Thousand Oaks, 15-8, 7-15, 15-11, 15-3--Amanda Kiser had 17 kills for the Highlanders (21-8, 9-2) in a Marmonte League victory at Thousand Oaks.

Jen Corral had 12 kills and 15 digs for the Lancers (10-10, 7-4).

Calabasas def. Nordhoff, 15-12, 15-8, 15-8--Maryam Ahmadian had 12 kills and eight blocks for the Coyotes (7-9, 4-3) in a Frontier League victory at Calabasas.

Notre Dame def. Louisville, 15-5, 13-15, 15-2, 8-15, 15-4--Sarah Braga had 16 kills and 17 digs for the Knights (10-5, 6-3) in a Mission League victory at Notre Dame.

Santa Barbara def. Buena, 15-4, 16-14, 15-4--Lindsey Martin had six kills but the Bulldogs (10-7, 6-5) lost a Channel League match at Santa Barbara. Buena upset the Dons, ranked No. 3 in Southern Section Division 1-A, earlier this season.

La Reina def. St. Bonaventure, 15-7, 15-5, 15-4--Ashlie Hain had 10 kills, five aces, 20 assists and 10 digs to lead the Regents (18-0, 9-0) to the Tri Valley League title at La Reina.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Crescenta Valley 19, Hoover 3--Carlos Pelayo scored all three of his goals during a 9-1 first-quarter run and the Falcons won in the first round of the Pacific League preliminaries at Hoover.

Jeff Little and Travis Schmidtt each scored three goals for Crescenta Valley (21-2, 6-0).
