SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Jason Whieldon threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more to lead Orange Lutheran to a 58-14 Olympic League victory over host Ontario Christian Friday night.

Whieldon, who has 33 touchdown passes this season with only two interceptions, opened the scoring with a 49-yard touchdown pass play to Ryan Nath.

“Our offensive line had another outstanding game,” Orange Lutheran Coach Jim Kunau said. “There has not been a letdown all year.”

The Lancers’ only weakness is the kicking game. Jon Talmage was injured last week and is out for the season and his backup, Tony Zegers, was hurt in practice. Emmanual Lahlouh caught the first conversion pass from Whieldon.

Orange Lutheran (9-0, 4-0 in league) scored on its second possession as Mark Staake ran it in from the five and scored the extra points.

Lahlouh caught a 32-yard touchdown pass from Whieldon and Nath caught the conversion pass to increase the Lancer lead to 22-0 early in the second quarter.

Scott Ausmus scored from the six and also scored the extra points on the Lancers’ next possession.

A fumble recovery by Brandon Heim with 1:12 left in the half gave the Lancers another opportunity to score. Whieldon ran it in from the eight, but the conversion attempt failed and Orange Lutheran led at halftime, 38-0.

Ryan Fuqua put the Knights on the scoreboard with a 45-yard touchdown run on the second play following a successful onside kick.

Orange Lutheran increased its lead to 52-6 on a 54-yard touchdown pass from Whieldon to Nath. Chaz Guinn scored the conversion.

Ryan Lewis scored from the four for Ontario Christian.

Mike White finished the scoring with a five-yard touchdown run.
