Senior Attorney Wins Public Service Award

* Attorney Tina Rasnow has been awarded the 1999 Ben E. Nordman Public Service Award. Rasnow is a senior attorney and coordinator for Ventura County’s Self-Help Legal Access Center. Established in 1985, the award is given each year to a member of the Ventura County Bar Assn. who has demonstrated “exemplary dedication to the community through charitable and public service activities.”

Academy Receives $1,000 Grant From Amgen

* The Ventura County Leadership Academy received a $1,000 grant from the Amgen Foundation. The money will be used to support the academy’s community leadership development program.

Sunrise Optimist Club Installs New President

* The Ventura Sunrise Optimist Club has installed Fannie Hutchison as president for the 1999-2000 term. The following installations were also announced: secretary treasurer, Bob Kanthack; president-elect, Marty Zvada; board members, Mac McKean, Hal Fulkerson, Karen Romney, Sam Pinkham, Marie Atmore and Stu Vitt.
