‘Citizen Kane,’ Movie Marathon Help Celebrate RKO Anniversary

Another big November sweeps’ movie weekend includes the premiere of HBO’s new drama about the making of “Citizen Kane,” the cable premiere of a classic children’s film, the final installment in the “Sarah, Plain and Tall” trilogy and a disaster thriller about a Y2K meltdown.

Turner Classic Movies celebrates the 70th anniversary of RKO Pictures Friday with a 24-hour, 12-movie marathon. Among the movies featured are “Morning Glory” at 7 a.m., “Top Hat” at 1 p.m. and “Citizen Kane” at 5 p.m.

Fox Kids Network launches its new series “NASCAR Racers” with a 90-minute movie special, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. on Fox.

Joey and Andy Lawrence star in the Disney Channel film “Horse Sense,” Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Joey plays a Beverly Hills city slicker who gets his fill of Montana ranch life from his younger cousin, played by Andy.

Liev Schreiber is young Orson Welles and James Cromwell is publishing titan William Randolph Hearst in “RKO 281,” Saturday at 9 p.m. on HBO. The historical drama deals with the battle to make the 1941 classic “Citizen Kane.” Melanie Griffith and John Malkovich also star.

Timothy Bottoms headlines the Movie Channel’s “Black Sea 213,” Saturday at 10 p.m. The Zalman King-produced drama is a “seductive story of adventure and espionage.”

The beloved family classic “The Wizard of Oz” makes its cable debut, Sunday at 7:20 p.m. on TBS.

Glenn Close and Christopher Walken return in the CBS “Hallmark Hall of Fame” drama “Sarah, Plain and Tall: Winter’s End,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on CBS. Close and Walken reprise their roles of Sarah and Jacob Witting in this third and concluding drama based on the characters in Patricia MacLachlan’s award-winning novel “Sarah, Plain and Tall.”

Steven Weber reunites with his former “Wings” co-star Tony Shalhoub on NBC’s “Stark Raving Mad,” tonight at 9:30.

Come on down! Bob Barker makes his first appearance on CBS’ “The Price Is Right” since his recent surgery, Friday at 3 p.m.

KLOS-FM deejays Mark and Brian appear on ABC’s “Odd Man Out,” Friday at 9:30 p.m.

ABC’s animated series “Doug” and “Pepper Ann” feature Thanksgiving episodes, Saturday beginning at 7 a.m.

PBS’ “Masterpiece Theatre,” Sunday at 9 p.m. on KCET-TV and KVCR, presents the drama “Shooting the Past.” Liam Cunningham and Lindsay Duncan star in this story of an American owner of a London mansion who wants to get rid of the manse’s collection of rare photographs.

Leeza Gibbons hosts the two-hour UPN special “Teen Files: The Truth About Violence,” tonight at 8. Eight L.A. teens discuss their antisocial behavior. Arnold Shapiro (“Scared Straight”) is the producer.

Sander Vanocur narrates the documentary “He Touched Me: The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley,” Saturday at 9 p.m. on TNN. The second part of the special will air on Jan. 8.

Roy Clark joins the children of country legends Conway Twitty, Roger Miller, Marty Robbins, Tammy Wynette and Hank Williams to perform some of their parent’s famous songs on TNN’s “Country’s Family Reunion & the Young ‘Uns,” Saturday at 10 p.m.
