St. Francis Reluctantly OKs Switch to Saturday

After much debate and discussion, Canyon and St. Francis have agreed to play their Southern Section Division III quarterfinal football playoff game Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Canyon.

St. Francis was not enthusiastic about playing on Saturday, fearing disruption of its practice schedule both this week and potentially for the semifinals next week.

But Canyon was out of options for a site on Friday, with its school being used for the Valencia-Notre Dame game and College of the Canyons occupied by the Saugus-Highland game.

“We’re trying to accommodate the unusual situation Canyon is in,” Principal Tom Moran of St. Francis said.
