Woman, 88, Killed in Hit-Run Identified
A woman killed in a two-car hit-and-run accident Thursday evening in Santa Ana has been identified as Agnes Peterson, 88, of Fountain Valley.
The accident occurred at 6:42 p.m. at the intersection of South Raitt Street and West Edinger Avenue. Peterson was taken to Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana, where she was pronounced dead at 7:09 p.m., police said.
According to authorities, the accident occurred when the driver of a 1984 Lincoln, traveling east on Edinger, made a left turn and hit the Suzuki Sidekick that Peterson was a passenger in.
Peterson’s son was driving the Suzuki.
The driver of the Lincoln and his passenger fled. Police described the driver as Latino, 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet 8, balding and wearing a white shirt.
The passenger was described only as a husky Latino wearing a black jacket.
