Antelope Valley (0-4) would prefer not to measure its season by wins and losses.
“If they had a column for moral victories, we’d be in pretty good shape,” said offensive coordinator Brandon Newcomb. “But they don’t.”
The Antelopes have played competitively in every game.
They trailed Central Section power Bakersfield, 6-3, before losing 28-9; led City power Sylmar by 11 points, then lost, 28-21; led Bishop Amat, the top-ranked team in Southern Section Division I, by a point at halftime of a 31-15 loss, and lost to Dominguez, 30-15, after trailing 16-15.
“We’re tired of moral victories,” Newcomb said.
Tonight’s opponent is much-improved Bishop Montgomery (2-2), which switched to the wing-T after going winless last season and is averaging about 35 points. The Knights are led by running back Stanley Wilson, son and namesake of the former Banning High, Oklahoma and NFL back.

Littlerock’s game tonight at Capistrano Valley was almost a showdown against a familiar face. Coach Jeff Williams of Golden League rival Palmdale accepted the Capistrano Valley job last spring.
Williams, who grew up in Littlerock, was introduced to Capistrano Valley’s players, and the school announced the hiring.
Two days later, Williams changed his mind and elected to stay at Palmdale. Jeff Veeder was hired to replace Williams at Capistrano Valley.
