These simple glass bowls do double duty: They’re nice enough for serving at the table or as part of a buffet, but they also hold up for utilitarian duty in the kitchen. What’s more, they’re priced right. You can buy one or several, depending on your needs. We liked them so much that we bought one of each size.

Glass bowls, $1.99 to $5.99, at Target stores.

Pizza Lite

Low-fat pizza? Heavens’ Bistro, based in Santa Monica, has introduced three frozen low-fat pies that we put before tasters in the Times Test Kitchen. They liked the grilled vegetable pizza the best among turkey pepperoni and barbecue chicken pizzas. At 190 calories per serving (one-third of the pizza) and 1 gram of fat, the thick crusty pizza topped with cheese and vegetables didn’t seem to be skimping on taste. We suggest sprinkling a little chopped fresh basil over the top for an added touch.

Heavens’ Bistro (15.5-ounce) pizzas, about $5 each at Gibson & Cooke markets, Vicente Foods, Bel Air Market, Bob’s Market Santa Monica and McCowns, Fountain Valley.
