Fire Destroys Apartment
An electrical fire gutted a Westminster apartment and left five people homeless Saturday afternoon, but no injuries were reported, fire officials said.
The blaze caused $40,000 in damage, completely destroying a bedroom, hallway and bathroom of the first-floor apartment on the 9600 block of Madison Circle, said Dennis Shell, a spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority.
The occupants, Hung C. Win, his wife, grandmother, 5-year-old son and 2-year-old son, were not home when the fire broke out at 1:20 p.m., Shell said.
A neighbor reported the blaze, which took 25 firefighters about 10 minutes to extinguish, Shell said.
