Caltrans is warning drivers that two lanes of the San Bernardino Freeway in Pomona will be closed over the weekend, from 8 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

Caltrans officials said they will close two of the four eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in a three-mile section of the freeway stretching from the 57/210 interchange to Garey Avenue. All westbound lanes will remain open.

Several highway ramps also will be closed during the weekend, including the Campus Drive eastbound onramp; the Fairplex Drive eastbound onramp and offramp; the Dudley Street eastbound onramp and offramp; the White Avenue eastbound onramp and offramps; and the Garey Avenue eastbound offramp.

The closures will allow state road crews to make extensive pavement repairs, part of a $15-million project to rehabilitate the 3.3-mile stretch of the freeway using an innovative, long-lasting paving material, officials said. Caltrans said it expects the project to be completed by early next year.

The section of Interstate 10 carries about 240,000 vehicles per day and has one of the highest concentrations of deteriorated pavement in Los Angeles County, Caltrans said.
