Woman Crossing Street Is Hit, Killed
A 40-year-old Moorpark woman was killed Tuesday night as she was crossing Los Angeles Avenue at Science Drive with her 12-year-old daughter, authorities said.
Alicia Sanchez died at 7:48 p.m. after trying to cross the street to get home with daughter Melenda Hernandez, according to Sgt. Larry Meyers of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Melenda was taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where she was being treated for minor injuries.
The motorist who hit Sanchez and her daughter stopped and was questioned by authorities. Meyers said it was unknown whether alcohol was a factor in the accident, and that the investigation is ongoing.
